John Riedy Photography offers a full range of album options to best preserve the priceless memories of your wedding day.  These range from the more traditional matted albums to the contemporary, yet classic, collage flush albums (also known as “Magazine Style” albums).  Both styles come in a wide variety of leathers, fabrics  and synthetic leathers.  One very popular option for clients is, rather than making a small 5x7 matted album for their parents, many are making clones of their bridal album (sometimes the same size, sometimes slightly smaller) to give to their parents.  Trust me, once your parents see an exquisitely designed collage flush album, nothing else will suffice.

The traditional matted album is simple and elegant.  It contains an average of 50-80 images.  Normally these are displayed as either 5x7 or 6x9 on an 8x10 luster finish photographic paper and then matted in black (other colors are available) to 12x12. The edges of the matted pages are gilded in either black, silver or gold (usually black).  An example of a traditional matted album is below.


The collage flush album is relatively new way to display your wedding images, but in just a few short years it has become the new industry standard.  These albums manage to be contemporary looking without being cheesy.  Trust me, these will NOT become the equivalent of the bride and groom floating in a brandy snifter looking down on themselves from above during the ceremony.  Ugh.  No, these are exquisitely designed 22x14 spreads (the album stands 11x14” vertical) that present multiple related images together to most effectively tell the story of your wedding day.  
The 22x14 spreads are split down the middle into two 11x14 pages.  There is no matting at all surrounding the prints.  The edges of the photographic paper extend all the way to the edge of the album.  In general, a 20 spread (40 side) collage flush album will contain approximately 100-120 images.  There is a maximum of 34 spreads, which would probably mean roughly 180-200 images.  Technically there’s no limit to the number of images, but the designs can look very cluttered if you try to stuff in too many.  A better option with that number of images is to produce a two volume album set.
