The Finished Print

The Finished Print album contains images photographed by John Riedy at various weddings and portrait sessions over the past few years. The point of this album is to show the potential wedding client the work that John Riedy puts into making the finished image as compared to the image straight out of the camera. It shows what a boutique wedding studio does as compared to a large wedding mill that just cannot put as much time and artistic expression into each image.

Wedding photography is an interesting business. Ultimately, it’s about a photographer who brings a camera or cameras to a wedding and makes images. In that sense, all wedding photography companies are the same. Or so it would seem. In reality, there are as many different types of wedding photography and portrait companies or studios as there are types of restaurants. There are huge wedding photography studios that have figured out ways to mass produce photography for very low cost at one end of the spectrum. And on the other end of the spectrum, there are very high end boutique wedding photography studios that do a very limited number of weddings in order to produce the highest end, fine art style product possible.

So, what does this have to do with the title of this gallery, The Finished Print? One of the main things that will distinguish a boutique, low volume, high end studio from the mass production, high volume studio is the quality of the finished print. When you hire a boutique studio like John Riedy Photography, you’re not just paying for me to come to your wedding and photograph or document your wedding day. I do that, of course, but at that point, my work has just begun. Seeing the image through to “The Finished Print” is a HUGE part of what makes my studio special and worth investing your hard earned dollars in when choosing who will document your wedding day.

What you see above is what I believe sets a boutique wedding studio apart from the larger wedding mills. Watch the magic that happens from when the image is captured in camera to its final Finished Print. Some transformations are subtle, some are much more dramatic. Come back to this page often as I plan to update it with images from every wedding that I shoot.
